About E&ICT Academy Scheme Phase-II

The E&ICT Academy Scheme Phase-II would continue to focus on improving the quality of faculty of institutes, colleges States/UTs by organizing faculty training programmes by leveraging building upon the capacities and the capabilities of the existing 7 E&ICT Academies setup in premier academic institutions, and extending the same to other institutions, specifically in tier-2/tier-3 areas for wider proliferation. The E&ICT Academy Phase-II takes into account a hub-and-spoke framework for wider proliferations, wherein the existing Academies would act as a “hub” and provide support to a network of Spokes of Lead Academy, besides, ICT Academy Tamil Nadu, E&ICT Academy IIT Kanpur and Participating Academies viz. NIELIT/C-DAC Centre. It may also be important to assist faculty members to develop the skills and knowledge they need to teach and conduct research in interdisciplinary areas, design of new FDPs that incorporate multiple disciplines; effective teaching, learning and assessment strategies for interdisciplinary learning; inclusive learning environments to teach students about diversity and inclusion, etc. The main deliverables envisaged under E&ICT Academy Scheme – Phase-II:

  1. Training of 1,35,000 Faculty Members/Trainers in Engineering and non-engineering colleges, Polytechnic, ITI and PGT educators
  2. Besides training of faculty members, at least 350 new/ unique FDPs would be developed in niche/ state-of-the art technological areas, considering future-of-work and integration of industry specific requirement
  3. Capable faculty in Higher Educational Institutions (long term) by enhancing their teaching abilities
  4. Increased knowledge and understanding of specific engineering topics or areas of research, allowing faculty to better serve as experts and mentors for students
  5. Faculty members stay updated with the latest developments and advancements in their respective disciplines.
  6. Enhanced use of technology and other resources in the classroom, which can improve student learning and engagement
  7. Increased professional recognition and career advancement for participating faculty members.
